Quarterly China Study Tour

An immersive week inside China's innovation ecosystem.

Four times a year CBIC takes a selected cohort of Pakistani students into China's innovation corridor — the innovation parks, university labs and enterprise floors where the technology actually gets built. It is the flagship CBIC programme and the one members most often join for.

What the week covers

Innovation parks & tech hubs

Visits to the science and technology parks where Chinese startups and established manufacturers sit side by side, with briefings on how the ecosystem is financed and governed.

AI, robotics & advanced manufacturing labs

Time inside working laboratories — automation cells, robotics benches, AI and biomedical research facilities — rather than showrooms.

Professors, researchers & CEOs

Structured sessions with Chinese academics and company leadership, including question time. Several members have used these introductions to open project conversations.

Cultural exchange & networking

Time with Chinese students and with the wider Pakistani cohort. The network you leave with is a large part of the value.

Official certificate of participation

Every member who completes the tour receives a CBIC Certificate of Participation, issued against their CBIC ID.

Selection

How members are chosen

1Be an active memberOnly members with an active CBIC membership enter the quarterly selection pool. Registration alone does not reserve a place.

2Apply for the cohortWhen a cohort opens, apply from your dashboard under 'Quarterly China Study Tour'. Tell us your discipline, your year, and why this quarter's focus fits your work.

3Screening and interviewCBIC shortlists on merit — academic standing, relevance of your field, project work, and how you present yourself. Shortlisted applicants are interviewed.

4Offer and documentationSelected members receive a written tour offer setting out that quarter's programme, dates, and exactly what the cost covers. Passport and visa documentation begins here.

5TravelThe cohort travels together with CBIC coordination throughout, and returns with a certificate and a network.

Before you apply

Hold a passport valid for at least six months beyond the travel dates
Keep your CNIC, enrolment or degree documents ready to scan
Be able to attend the full programme — partial attendance is not offered
Budget for costs outside the tour fee, such as personal spending

Read this before applying

Selection is competitive. Places are limited to 25–30 per cohort and applications routinely exceed that. Applying does not mean travelling.
A place is not a visa. Visas are granted at the sole discretion of the Chinese authorities. CBIC prepares and supports your documentation but has no influence over the decision, and a refusal is not something CBIC can appeal or refund.
Programmes change. The tour runs through Chinese partner institutions and is subject to their policies and to Chinese government rules on travel and education. Where those change, a cohort's content, dates or format can change with them — or the cohort can be postponed.
Costs are quoted per cohort. The tour fee is separate from CBIC membership. What it covers is itemised in the written offer, and unless stated it excludes airfare, visa fees, insurance and personal expenses.
